The upcoming horror game Bye Sweet Carole, a collaboration between indie studios Little Sewing Machine and Meangrip Studios, is already sparking excitement and comparisons to classic Disney animations. First revealed over a year ago, Bye Sweet Carole showcases hand-drawn characters and detailed environments inspired by “the greatest animated films,” including Disney classics, offering a distinctive twist on the narrative horror genre.

Created by Remothered series designer Chris Darril, Bye Sweet Carole follows young Lana Benton as she searches for her missing best friend, Carole Simmons, uncovering the eerie secrets of Bunny Hall orphanage. Lana’s journey takes her between reality and the fantastical, chilling kingdom of Corolla, where she must evade Mr. Kyn, the malevolent owl Velenia, and colonies of menacing tar bunnies.

In a trailer revealed during the 2024 Indie Horror Showcase, players got a closer look at Bye Sweet Carole’s gameplay, including mechanics like transforming into a rabbit to access platforms and holding her breath while hiding. Enemies vary from ghostly figures that haunt Bunny Hall to midnight specters that pursue Lana through Corolla. The game’s art style brings to mind Disney classics such as Alice in Wonderland and Snow White, with its dark, storybook feel.
